About the Author
Karen has combined her many life experiences as a single Christian mom of a Marine, an elementary school teacher, a world traveler, a grandmother, and a childhood in Girl Scouts to help shape her writing of wholesome books for young children. She believes children should be allowed to remain innocent as long as possible while also learning to accept responsibilities for their lives and contribute to the welfare of others.

Karen’s debut book, The Worn-Out Flag, is a heartwarming, beautifully illustrated, patriotic picture book that celebrates the significance of our American flag and what it represents. The stirring story celebrates the men and women who serve and protect our country. It follows two boys and their parents as they retire a torn, worn-out American flag in a moving, respectful retirement ceremony.
